SIPS

SIPS – a sandwich panel method of construction with the advantages of being structurally sound and load-bearing – have been used in the construction of homes and building in the United Kingdom since the 1980’s. They are high performance composite panels used in domestic and light commercial building applications. The panels consist of an insulated core sandwiched between two layers of structure, often being oriented strand board (OSB). Due to the method of construction they form a very strong structural building panel, similar to a steel I-beam, which also provides outstanding air tightness and improved energy efficiency. SIPs give the potential for faster build times, reduced site waste and lower fuel bills.
